Vitebsk City Hall

Vitebsk City Hall - an architectural monument of the late Baroque and Classicism, the card of the city, its emblem. Built in 1775 year on the site of a wooden hall XVI century. City Hall has been a symbol of the city of Independence, it has conducted its meeting of the body self-selected citizens - the magistrate. At various times, located in the Town Hall police, court, department, guardhouse, fire yard, the city treasury, a telephone exchange, the city council.

During its existence, Hall repeatedly rebuilt. In 1833 year hip roof on the tower was replaced by observation deck with a small rotunda. In 1873 - 75 years was conducted internal restructuring in connection with the movement of the second floor of City Council, and at first - the police department. In 1910 year the town council was allowed to build on the third floor, which was done in 1911 year. In 1924 year the building was transferred to the museum. Vitebsk Regional History Museum is here to the present time.
