Place in the construction of the church was consecrated on the fifth anniversary of the tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1991. The temple was opened and consecrated in 1995 by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II.
The church was built in the canons of the Byzantine style with elements of Russian northern architecture, typical of the churches of Novgorod the Great and Pskov.
The complex besides the Cathedral of Our Lady Mother "All the Afflicted" includes: baptismal church of St. Euphrosyne, two chapels, a belfry, educational building, dining hall building and the building of social workshops.
