In 1930, the church was closed and remained derelict for a long time. In the autumn of 1940 the building was used as a salt warehouse.
In the spring 1941 the church was transformed into a water tower: a barrel of 5 m3 was installed on wooden poles in the church hall; the water pumped from artesian well.
In 1942 Petrikov undergrounders used church to store leaflets and the radio.
In the postwar years, the church has long been abandoned. In the 70-ies there was a pub and in the 80s - a children's cafe "Morozhenoe". The presence of the latter in the walls of the church left a trail of wood trim of interior walls.
In 1991 the restoration of the church begins and it lasted until 1999. During this time, a new two-tier iconostasis was established in the church, the dome was updated, the new icons were puted, including icons of St. Nicholas and the Saviour written and donated by local artist I. Perezhko. Along the perimeter of the churchyard a solid openwork fence has established.
