Description

The Church of Our Lady of Kazan (Kazan Intercession) was built in 1760. This is the only temple of Vitebsk monastery survived the Soviet period.

The church kept the image of Our Lady of the "Kazan", presented in 1656 by the Moscow Patriarch Nikon abbot Calixto Ritariyskomu. The icon is venerated as miraculous. The image of Our Lady of the "Kazan" written on the tree in the Byzantine manner, given the new name of the Intercession Church, which is now known as the Vitebsk residents of Kazan or Kazan Intercession.

Modern stone church was built as the Pokrovsky (Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary) in 1760 with the abbot Hyacinth (Hyacinth) Pelkinskom. There is also information about the construction of the church in 1775 or 1780. In 1840 the temple was restored gilded iconostasis, the dome and the walls are painted with glue paint, nastlany new wooden floors. In May 1847 it was consecrated archbishop of Polotsk and Vitebsk Basil (Luzhin). The church is still under renovation, but it is open to visitors.
