Description
The Cathedral in the name of St. Simeon is the main temple of the city.
This church was built of wood, it has repeatedly suffered from fires. In November 1815, the monastery was once again in flames, which destroyed the church of St. Simeon. The fire completely destroyed in 1819 he monastery, which led to its closure in 1824.
Construction of the stone church was begun only in 1862. November 8, 1865 the church was covered.
Among the relics of St. Simeon Cathedral held a special place relics of St. Martyr Athanasius, the abbot of Brest.
