The eponymous handout originates from Independence Square though earlier it changed the name 14 times. It is the central and largest highway of Minsk, the large-scale work of art and the keeper of memory. He remembers a great number of politicians, writers, artists … Nezavisimosti Avenue - the only example of so long site of urban development where it was succeeded to keep unity of a form and style fully. The avenue applied for entering into the List of the World heritage of UNESCO.
Whether it becomes frequent the street an architecture monument? We got used to carry in number of architectural masterpieces of church or churches, palaces or locks. But in Minsk there is such sight – Nezavisimosti Avenue. The background of its emergence is very sad. As after war Minsk lay in ruins - it was necessary to build up entirely anew the main city street. From here and such integrity of style.
Where now the main avenue of Minsk lies - there were Sovetskaya Street and Barysauski trakt earlier. But after war on Soviet there were only ten buildings that became the reason of radical reorganization. If to compare the present avenue and the old street, then the first became not only is longer, but also pryamy is wider.
One more feature of the avenue – the number of changes in a name of the trunk Minsk main. The first name which reached us is Zakharyevskaya Street. So it was called till 1919. The name is connected with the first Minsk governor Zakhary Yakovlevich Korneev. It also was the steadiest name: so the street was called more than hundred years. And further: Soviet, Adam Mickiewicz, again Soviet, Hauptshtrasse, Soviet, Stalin Avenue, Leninsky Avenue, Francis Scorina, Nezavisimosti Avenue.
Sovremenny Avenue of Independence originates at Independence Square (before Lenin). The avenue can be divided into three parts conditionally. The first begins at Independence Square and there is to Victory Square, the second – from Victory Square to Kalinin Square, and the third - from Kalinin Square before entry into Minsk.
The most great value is represented by the central part of the avenue which was constructed in the 1940-1960th years in "Stalin empire style" style. All buildings are parts of a harmonious architectural complex which is protected by the state. By the way, this part of Nezavisimosti Avenue applies for inclusion in the list of world cultural heritage of UNESCO.
The academician Mikhail Parusnikov was the author of the project of building. Its project was approved in 1947. At the very beginning of implementation of the project on the avenue the building of the Minsk central post office appeared. Constructed it in 1949-1953, it reminds us of classical architecture. Opposite to it by 1967 the modern hotel "Minsk" grew.
The main part of houses of the central part of the avenue was executed according to standard projects, it could reduce the architectural value of building. However here, with amazing monumentalism, the office building was built. Now - Committee for State Security. The house in neoclassical style built before revolution - the modern Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus was very organically connected to it. Opposite to these buildings the square where established a bust to Felix Dzerzhinsky is broken. Dzerzhinsky was considered "founding father" of the Soviet militia and security service.
It is worth paying attention and on zdaniyanatsionalny bank and GUM. By the way, captured Germans who managed to make the base and began a laying of walls began to build it. However, in 1948 all of them were sent to Germany therefore the Soviet builders completed shop. The GUM opened on November 5, 1951. Eyewitnesses remember that in the first day there was such agiotage that the turn stretched according to the avenue for the whole kilometer. And the horse militia had to constrain it. The GUM was beautiful not only outside, but also inside. Its furniture just struck: wooden show-windows, silk curtains, large number of mirrors and bronze jewelry. The GUM was pretty modern shop, and in 1969 introduced self-service – one of the first in the Union.
Independence Square, Victory Square, October Square, Yakub Kolas Square and others – they became pearl architectural azhireliy the prospet of Independence. Каждя from them bears in itself a set of properties of architecture.
From Kalinin Square there is the last section of the avenue which comes to an end in the residential district Uruchye. Here the park of a name of Chelyuskins, and also surprising Botanical garden is broken. For children the Minsk children's railroad is constructed here. Here also the National library is located.
