Museum of history of belarusian cinema was founded on the initiative of the Belarusian filmmakers in Minsk in 1976 (on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the entry screen of the first national film "Forest Story") as for departmental studio "Belarusfilm" to collect and preserve materials of national cinema, promoting its achievements. From 1982 to 1988 housed at the House of Cinema (Church of Saints Simon and Helena) of the Union of Cinematographers of the Byelorussian SSR, performing mostly archival function. The museum is open for regular visits at the beginning of 2002 in a specially reconstructed (1994-1998) three-floor building - a monument of architecture of the first half of the twentieth century. Since January 2005 is a branch establishment "Museum of theatre and music culture of Republic of Belarus". In a museum systematized documents and materials on the history of the Belarusian cinema and film culture in general. On the 3rd floor there is an exhibition hall, where held equity, thematic and solo exhibitions related to the cinema, Belarusian visual arts evenings for anniversaries, upon prior reservation organized display of domestic and foreign film classics. The distinctive feature of the museum - a combination of on-screen object exposition.
Exposure
Сinema hall a cinema with 50 seats and a video for 10 seats. Groups and individually show films, retrospectives and various retroprogrammy based cinema museum (video) of the fund.
”Golden fund of belarusian cinema” area of the exhibition hall, located on the 2nd floor of 140 m2. A permanent exhibition that contains a variety of information (about 800 pieces) of domestic films of different genres (including those listed in the UNESCO list of representative works of world cinema).
Showroom located on the ground floor. Floor area is 100 m2. It organizes a variety of personal themed art exhibitions.
