writing materials, book illustration and printing. It is the only museum of its
type in Belarus. The Exhibit Space Museum is 928 m2. The exposition of the
museum housed in 15 rooms on two floors, demonstrated in 2500 the museum
exhibits. The largest part of the collections of museum exhibits: manuscripts,
incunabula, as well as modern editions. Early printed editions are interesting
and beautiful editions of the Latin and Cyrillic fonts. Modern editions are the
best books-prize winner of "Art of the Book." In addition to books in the museum
displays and other products: magazines and newspapers in different years,
postcards, flyers, calendars, booklets. Here you can see those objects and
materials that accompany the book and writing, among them writing instruments of
the past centuries, the printing press, news paper, candle holders, hair
accessories of different eras and tools for writing, starting from the quill pen,
and wrote to the modern automatic pens.
In order to travel back in time and imagine the difficult process of creating
manuscripts, the museum recreates the master scribe books - scriptorium, where
you can see the monk-scribe with a quill pen in his hand. And the process of
creation of the first printed books at the reconstructed print shop XVII-XVIII
centuries., Where he worked typesetter and printer. In the museum you can see
the interior of the cabinet scientist or writer XVII-XVIII centuries, the studio
of the artist-designer, antique furniture and other museum staff cared about
keeping and reporting to the listener native word, and therefore most of the
tour takes place here in the Belarusian language. And as a logical confirmation
of this - majestic and beautiful sculpture P. Wynn "Dedication to the mother
tongue", which is in the last room of the museum and teaches us to respect and
preserve their language, their heritage. Traveling through the halls of the
museum, you feel not only proud of the comments of our great educators:
Euphrosyne, Francis Skoryna, Simeon of Polotsk, Basil Tjapinsky and others who
contributed to the development of written language, education, knowledge, but
also for our contemporaries effort that creates a modern book.
