History
The history of Kommunarka dates back to 1905, when a small «Coffee shop with confectionery products» owned by Georgy Rachkovsky appeared in Minsk. Over the years, the factory changed names several times, underwent reconstructions and expansions. In 1926, it became the «First Belarusian Confectionery Factory», later renamed «Progress», and only in 1929 did it acquire its current name — «Kommunarka». By the 1930s, production lines for soft chocolate and caramel were operating here. Later, the first packaging machines were installed, and a dragee workshop — the first of its kind — was opened. Since then, the factory has evolved from a small workshop into a symbol of Belarusian quality, attracting the attention of participants in tours across Belarus.
Production
Modern production at the factory is divided into three main departments — candy, chocolate, and combined. All processes are fully automated: from roasting cocoa beans to packaging the final product. The range includes over 200 types of sweets, including the iconic «Belarusian Potato» and branded «Kommunarka» chocolates. The factory is constantly being modernized, introducing cutting-edge technologies that improve both the quality and efficiency of its production. It is one of the most visited sites during excursions from Minsk, especially for those interested in industrial tourism.
