Blagoveshchensk church in Olkovichi

Blagoveshchensk church - an architecture monument Neogothic styles. It is erected in the beginning of XX century from a red brick.

Arrival the local legend says about occurrence that when here there did not live yet people, and the alder grove rustled with foliage, on one of trees the icon of Maiden Maria has been noticed. Believers from the next villages have counted this place sacred, and an icon – wonder-working, therefore have constructed there a small wooden chapel, having placed an icon in its altar. Soon round a chapel there were first houses, and it is a little later – settlement.

The first temple has been constructed thanks to diligence of the bishop Alexander Garain . At a temple the hospital and the brotherhood of Mother of god Skapuljarija based here in 1761 by Carmelites barefooted operated. Building of a new temple has begun in 1897, and in 1905 the temple has been consecrated.

In 1950th years the temple in Olkovichi has been closed and adapted under a granary. In 1989 a temple have returned to believers, and its restoration at once has begun. Repeated consecration of a temple has taken place on August, 16th, 1992
