Description

Carmelite church of the Assumption of Divine Mother - the most outstanding city monument. It is constructed in 1620 on a place of the wooden. In 1746-1750 it is reconstructed by the known architect in style late baroque also it is partially reconstructed in 1887.

Building of a church looks like stone basilica with two-tower facade and pentahedral apse. The walls which thickness reaches one and a half meters, are plastered and decorated by pilasters, eaves.

Interior is decorated by modelled altars and frescos in baroque style. It was saved about 20 compositions on musical and battle subjects, including On concrete historical themes: ”Capture of Mstislavlja the Moscow army in 1654” and ”Murder of priests” which are unusual to temple painting. In an altar part of an interior medallions with the image of patrons of art are located, endowing personal means for temple building.

On the way to a temple it is constructed entrance brick brama in a kind 3 semicircular arches.
