Description

Lavrishevskaya Assumption Church is located in the village Lavrishevo, Novogrudok district, Grodno region, Republik of Belarus.
This church is located next to one of the oldest monasteries in Belarus - Lavrishevsky Monastery. This monastery was founded in the bend on the left bank of the Neman River, near the city of Novogrudok, at the foot of the highest mountain in 1225 by the son of Lithuanian Prince Treniota, Elisha. The young man held a high position at the court of Duke Mindaugas, but soon left the court, were baptized in spite of his father, and was founded tonsured a monk at the Novogrudok monastery itself. In 1530 the monastery was looted and razed to the ground, and all the monks were killed. Last time the monastery complex was rebuilt in 1775-1780 years. It consisted of wooden buildings: residential housing, churches and bell towers, as well as a small stone buildings, where the library and warehouse.

In 1798, the parish of the Assumption Church was built on the monastic funds.
According to other sources, this temple was built in 1756, 1768 or 1798.
In 1836 the monastery was abolished and the Church of the Assumption parish faces Uniate.
Since 1839 Lavarishevskaya Assumption parish church became Orthodox.
