St. Sergius church in Leskovichi
Description
The church in the village Lyaskovichi built in 1878 of brick and rubble. It is an architectural monument of retrospective Russian style.
Located in the center Leskovichi village, Shumilino district, Vitebsk region. Has 3 part volumetric-spatial composition: 2-tier belfry-porch, cube-shaped prayer hall, 3-sided apse with lateral sacristies. Sloping 4-ramp roof of the main volume completed by cross, over tent roof of bell tower - poppyhead. The facades are decorated by arkaturno friezes, angled columns and blades, niches, flat jambs of arched window openings. The main entrance is resolved arched portal with two-sloped shield by 2 columns.
Until 1930 in the temple committed church service. Then in the building was constructed club, and later a granary. During the Great Patriotic War, the church was re-opened, worship were carried until 1962. After her adapted for storage space.
On the day of memory of St. Sergius of Radonezh, 8 October 1990, was the beginning of renewal of St. Sergius church. It was restored in one year diocese, parish and local business professionals powers.
