House of Peter I

House of Peter I - an architectural monument of the XVII century. It is believed that it was in this house lived the Emperor of Russia.

House was built in 1692 and partially rebuilt in the late XVIII - early XIX centuries, slightly injured in the war and rebuilt. In 1952 there was a plate on the house, which resembles a visit to Polotsk Peter I. The house is a one-story building in the shape of an irregular rectangle. The architecture of the building elements are used Baroque.

Many years in this house was the children s library, bearing the name of the Lev Tolstoj, so the front of the house is a monument to the writer. To date, there is a museum exhibition of stationary ”Walk on Nizhne-Pokrovskaya” - the first in Belarus monographic exhibition devoted to the history of one of the street. The viewer entering the museum, saw what was this street in 1910, recognizes those who lived on it, what kind of clothing worn by the citizens of that time, what utensils they used, which at that time was money, and looked like the interiors of some buildings that have survived to this day on this street.
