Description

The Rakovsky suburb is the residential area along Ostrovsky St., building of the former departure from the city towards Rakov. The suburb began to be formed in the Middle Ages, it was quarter of profitable houses, houses of handicraftsmen. The Uniatsky church, the Carmelite monastery, the Peter and Paul monastery were here.

In 1968-73 historical building of the suburb has been demolished. Stone houses on Rakovskaya St., Vitebsk, Releases, Castle, Dimitrova and the Peter and Paul church - the oldest of the escaped cult constructions of the city have partially remained.
