History
The church's history began in the early 20th century, when the building served as a residential house. After World War II, it was used as a maternity ward, and later — as a kindergarten. Only in 1993 was the building handed over to the Orthodox community. Thanks to the efforts of Father Anatoly Rezanovich and the support of local residents and authorities, it was transformed into a church. In 1995, on the eve of Patriarch Alexy II’s visit, the church was consecrated. Its opening was a significant event for the people of Iwye, who previously had to travel to neighboring villages for worship services.
Architecture
After renovation, the building acquired features of the Russian Revival style. Notable elements include onion-shaped domes above the main volume, a wooden bell tower topped with a Baroque-style dome, and ceremonial gates that emphasize the solemn character of the complex. The interior is decorated with icons and a distinctive iconostasis. Among the sacred objects are an image of Saint Gabriel with a relic and a Kazan icon of the Mother of God, which was blessed by the Patriarch and even traveled into space.
