History
The history of the Assumption Church dates back to the 17th century. In 1642, local craftsmen constructed it entirely by hand — without nails, carefully joining the logs with exceptional skill. The church is already mentioned in the Lithuanian Metrica of that period alongside the Kosevichi estate. Since then, it has been the spiritual heart of the local community. A touching legend is passed down about three women who walked all the way to Kyiv to bring back a burial shroud — a sacred object their village church could be proud of. After three years, they returned with the relic, and the story became a cherished memory among the villagers.
Architecture
The Assumption Church is a unique example of folk wooden architecture with elements of the Polesian style. Despite its simplicity, the church radiates harmony and reverence. Inside, visitors can find ancient icons, especially revered are the Icon of the Seven Holy Maccabean Martyrs and a cross from Jerusalem. Locals and pilgrims often speak of miracles associated with prayers at these sacred images — many pray here for children. The church still holds many secrets, including a legend about a buried bell from the war era that remains undiscovered to this day.
