History of Creation
St. Nicholas Church was built in 1904 with funds from railway workers, supported by Princess Irina Paskevich Erivanskaya, Saint Righteous John of Kronstadt, and other benefactors. The project reflected the traditions of Russian church architecture, giving the temple a solemn and monumental appearance.
After the revolution, the church faced difficult times: during the Soviet era, it was closed, and the building was used first as a club and later as a store. Only during World War II did the church reopen its doors to parishioners, and religious services resumed.
The revival of the church began in the 1990s. In 1994, a men's monastery was established at St. Nicholas Church, becoming a center of spiritual life in Gomel. A library and a Sunday school for children and adults were also organized, contributing to the spread of Orthodox enlightenment and strengthening faith among believers.
Architecture and Spiritual Life
St. Nicholas Church is a majestic stone structure built in the traditions of Russian Orthodox architecture. Its characteristic features include massive walls, high vaults, and an elegant dome, giving the building a sense of solemnity and monumentality. The church complex also includes the gate church of St. Dionysius of Radonezh, complementing the ensemble.

Among its main relics are the myrrh-streaming icon of St. Nicholas and the icon of St. Righteous John of Kormyanka, which contains a fragment of his relics. The Sunday school provides religious education for both children and adults, helping them gain a deeper understanding of Orthodox teachings.
