Church of the Ascension of the Virgin Mary in Miory
Description
Church of the Ascension of the Virgin Mary built in 1907 on the site of a wooden chapel. Completed in neo-Gothic style of red brick on the project of Vilnius architect Antoni Filipovic-Dubovik.
In 1951 the church was closed, the building was used for storage of grain, but in 1957 the church was re-consecrated.
Architecturally, the church is a two-towered nave basilica with five-sided apse. Three-level tower completed high spire and projecting forward narrow niches. The facades have arched window openings and stepped buttresses in the piers. Central shield completes the tower-lantern. The input aperture designed as a portal with a window-rose above it. In the walls of the temple immured plaques Prince Svyatopolk-Mirsky. In the interior - icons of the 19th century, the «Mother of God of Czenstochowa», «Mother of God Ruzhantsovaya», «Joseph and the baby». In 1997 on the territory of the church installed a monument to «Unborn child» by sculptor A. Drantsa.
Church of the Ascension of the Virgin Mary is included in the Cultural Properties of Belarus.
