Monument for K. Ostrojskiy set in Turov in 1998

Konstantin Ostrojskiy (February 12, 1526 - February 13, 1608)- prince of Ostrozhsky, the Kiev governor, the patron of the Orthodox faith. He founded the Ostroh printing plant, which employs the first printer Ivan Fedorov and Petr Mstislavets.

Childhood and adolescence spent in Turov. He received a good education in the spirit of pzravoslavnom so zealously defended the Orthodox Church during the administration of the Union of Brest; I care about the development of education, publishing books, establishing schools, providing protection to scientists.

His possessions were located in Podolia, Galicia and Volyn, including an approximately 300 cities and thousands of villages.

According to some historical data K. Ostrog actively participated in the struggle for power in the events of "Time of Troubles", it was closely associated with the Ljedmitry and his patrons.

By the end of his life, he experienced several unpleasant events: his two sons - John and Alexander - became Christians Catholic rite, the youngest son was poisoned by a servant. However, there is evidence that he helped change the religious denomination of their relatives.
