History of the Zdravnevo Museum-Estate
The museum was founded on August 11, 1988, by order of the Ministry of Culture of the BSSR No. 64 and became a branch of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. It is located 16 km north of Vitebsk on the former estate of the renowned artist Ilya Repin (1844–1930).
Repin’s Creativity in Zdravnevo
Between 1892 and 1902, Repin created many famous paintings inspired by Belarusian nature. Among them are “Autumn Bouquet”, “Hunter”, “Belarusian”, “On the Western Dvina. Sunrise”, “Moonlit Night”, “Ladies Strolling Among a Herd of Cows”, “In the Sun”, and others.
Architectural Complex of the Museum
The museum complex includes several buildings and natural landmarks that preserve the spirit of the past:
- Main Estate House – houses the memorial exhibition.
- Manager’s House – hosts the museum administration and an exhibition hall.
- Cellar, pond, and a part of the linden alley that once adorned the estate.
The total exhibition area is 242 sq. m.
