Description

Francis Xavier Catholic Church, or Farny Church - a cathedral of the diocese of Grodno, an outstanding architectural monument of the XVI-XVII centuries.

Work on the construction of Farnham Church were initiated in 1678, and in 1705 he was consecrated. At the consecration ceremony was attended by the Polish King August and the first Russian Emperor Peter. Church and Monastery of Jesuits were the richest in the Rech Pospolitaya, occupied the entire block in the city center. The complex consisted of Collegium, a pharmacy, a library and a number of business premises. Three-nave plan church has a size of 30x60 m, height 50 m.

The interior of the church - 13 altars. Main - 1736 Wooden made ​​in the late Baroque style. The temple is decorated with fresco painting of the mid- XVIII century sculpture. In the early XXth century the temple was a monument to Anthony Tiesenhausen.
