History
The church's history began in 1927, when prominent Catholic figure Bishop Zygmunt Łoziński gave his blessing for the construction of a church in Pelishche. The project was made possible thanks to the dedication of local residents who raised the necessary funds. Construction continued until 1934 under the direction of architect Bronisław Nielubowicz. The church was never closed, and even during Soviet times, services continued to be held — a rarity for that era.
Architecture
The church is a single-nave structure with one tower, built in the Art Nouveau style. Its architectural composition includes rectangular volumes: the main nave, apse, sacristy, and bell tower, arranged in a tiered symmetry. The bell tower is crowned with a decorative spire. The facades are adorned with arched windows and wide pilasters, giving the building vertical expressiveness. In the 1990s, the structure was partially renovated: a metal bell tower and a small statue of the Virgin Mary were added, and the exterior was simplified.
Excursions
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Pelishche can be visited as part of an individual tour from Minsk. We are happy to design a personalized itinerary that includes this church. Additionally, the visit can be combined with an excursion to the legendary Kamenets Tower — one of the iconic symbols of medieval Belarus.
