In 1779 Assumption Cathedral and the monastery were transferred Orthodox Church. In 1936 the church was blown up in 1998, work on his recovery began.

Description
Basilian monastery in Vitebsk was founded in 1682 on the site of the wooden Church of the Assumption. In the 1743-1775 year at the expense of Myron Galuza Italian architect Joseph Fontana begins to build a new stone church and a 3-storey monastery housing.
