Tiesenhausen Constantine, as a well-known ornithologist, who developed a classification system of birds and enjoyed by modern scholars, the author of several illustrated books on ornithology, founded in the palace of one of the most beautiful in Eastern Europe ornithological museum with several thousand items. The museum was the base of the biological faculty of Vilnius University. Under Constantine in the palace appeared Art Gallery, where, according to some sources, was the work of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Rubens, Durer and other famous artists. In the palace library, except books on ornithology, were rare monuments of Polish literature, valuable engravings and family papers, starting from the XIII century.
Generic home of Tiesenhausen in Postavy visited by the Russian Emperor Nicholas II. Now here is Postavy central regional hospital. In 2006, before the palace was set monument ornithologist Constantin Tiesenhausen. The scientist is depicted in full growth. Near the right foot of Tiesenhausen sits the owl is a symbol of wisdom, and on the right hand ornithologist sat down two birds.
