National Museum of Nature and Environment of Belarus was established in 1992. July 25, 1983 the Council of Ministers of the Byelorussian SSR adopted a resolution number 242 on the establishment of the National Museum of Nature and Environment of Belarus. July 8, 1991 issued an order of the Minister of Culture of the Byelorussian SSR for number 80 on the establishment of the city of Minsk National Museum of Nature and Environment on the basis of accumulated scientific collections of the State Museum of Natural History Profile Akad. Later, there was an allocation of the State Department of Nature Museum of the BSSR in separate legal entity - National Museum of Nature and Environment of Belarus. Since February 1992 he started his own activity as a structural unit of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus. Museum has branches on the Rokossovskogo street 151, 1 and Bogdanovich street 9A.

The museum is located in 4 buildings, including three leased. Display area is 457 m2 rooms with two permanent and two temporary variable exposures. The total number of museum objects is 24,705, of which the main fund - 11286, auxiliary science - 12419. Staff at the museum tell the secrets of animal and plant life, teach visitors watch the environment, analyze, compare the phenomenon to argue. The research work carried out in the museum focused on the description of the exhibits coming to the museum, the scientific description of the passport for each subject.
