The ensemble of Lenin Square in Mogilev
Description
Lenin square - the main square of the city of Mogilev. Before the Great October Revolution this place was located hay market, barracks, a prison.
In the center rises monument to VI Lenin. Sculpture by sculptor completed Baku Sabsay, a pedestal and podium - Belarusian architect Volchek. Of central importance is House of Soviets. The main frontage, he goes to the square has a pyramidal form with rhythmic volume increase to the center. The architectural ensemble of the square was created before World War II, when the decision in 1938 to move the capital of Belarus in Mogilev. In the House of Soviets is currently in the Executive Committee. Located next to an office building (architect Abrosimov), which was built as the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Since 1961, there was placed the main building engineering institute, and now Belarusian-Russian University. The building stands on the sides of the two projection in the facade with six Corinthian columns. The middle part is decorated with Corinthian pilasters.
