Demonstration open-air cages with wild animals
ICONIC PLACES
Description
The first demonstration enclosures with wild animals were created in Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park back in 1841. Today, the enclosures are located next to the Nature Museum of the reserve and occupy an area of about 20 hectares, where conditions as close to natural as possible are created for the inhabitants of the enclosures.
Demonstration open-air cages are very popular among tourists; they are one of the main attractions of the park. In the enclosures you can admire up close the main species of wild animals living in Belovezhskaya Pushcha: bison, moose, wild boars, bears, wolves, lynx, fox. There are also some species of birds of prey here, among which there is even a non-indigenous inhabitant of the forest - the ostrich. Among other animals brought to the Pushcha at different times are sika deer, raccoon dog, and pony. The most famous inhabitant of the pens is, of course, the bison.
A walk through the enclosures can take up to several hours, so for the convenience of visitors, a gazebo has been installed here where you can rest. The entrance to the territory of the enclosures is equipped with information boards, where you can learn more about the inhabitants of these places, about the activities and goals of the park.
